About Me

Faith Butterfield headshot.jpg

I am an aspiring animator, actress, and entertainment industry artist. Later, in my childhood, I met David Mehnert, an old mentor from age 7 to 14. Then, I developed the skills of languages, world culture, art, entertainment, music that became the gifts of my autism for the rest of my life. In 2004, I had my first art show at the Claremont Art Museum and was I featured in the book Artism: The Art of Autism which featured my professional work for the Savant Academy. In 2007 at age 10, I did commission for a logo design of a yogurt shop. In 2015, at the age of 18, I won the practicum challenge at my former high school for creating a logo for a vintage nail salon. I am currently studying at Citrus College as a fine arts major with GPA of 3.74 and I have been on the President's List since my first year.

My volunteer experience was doing caricatures to raise money for Autism Speaks, Services Center for Independent Living, Autism HWY Chalk Festival, and Learning Disabilities Association. I first collaborated with Spectrum Laboratory on animating a music video called Be a Friend in 2017. I studied under the late Mark Westermoe. He was trained by Fred Flixer who previously studied under Frank Reilly as part of the lineage that goes back to the Renaissance. This taught me the same traditional art style which was the foundation of my own art style influenced by Bruce Timm, Glen Murakami, Chuck Jones, Gennady Tatarvorsky, and Butch Hartman.

In 2018, I won the Academy of Dreams Award for my first animated short My Heart Flies at the Palm Springs International Animation Film Festival. I published my first children's book Mouse in the Penthouse which is now selling on Amazon. I was featured as an artist in the Special Olympics PSA in 2018 which I played myself drawing in a studio late at night. In 2019, I did my second animated short The Perfect Circle which was submitted to the Academy of Dream Awards category at the Palm Springs International Film Festival along with Exceptional Minds to showcase some short films and bumpers. I was featured in the Citrus College Clarion article called Motivated by Faith in 2017. Currently, I am the character designer, logo designer, background, and storyboard artist for a documentary Also, I did a live action/animated short called Boys Don't Wear Dresses another collaboration with Spectrum Laboratory which premiered in 2020. I do voice overs with Cathy McCulley, Rob Paulsen, and Tom Kenny where I work as an understudy.

I want to spread the message of hope to people with disabilities who are different like me for a chance to live in peace, and the world would include as one of them through inclusion, and equality.
